This may be coincidental, and I don’t imagine it would make much of a difference since Steam for Linux is so young anyway.Īnyway when the bad downloads try to launch, this shows up: “Failed to start game (invalid app config). I wasn’t able to discern any super strong correlation, but I did notice that World of Goo and Aquaria both worked and they were both in the first Humble Indie Bundle, whereas most of the ones that didn’t work were in newer bundles. However these games immediately “finished downloading”: Psychonauts, LIMBO, Multiwinia, Splice, Waking Mars

When it appears games aren't launching this is.

These began downloading/installing properly: Team Fortress 2 (not Humble Bundle), Steel Storm: Burning Retribution, World of Goo, Aquaria, Uplink Playdead is drumming up interest in its new game, Inside, by setting its first title free for a limited time on Steam.Throughout today and tomorrow, you can download Limbo. Games may not launch for a number of reasons, most of which are hard to diagnose due to the number of unique hardware and software configurations users have. I just tested some random ones, but of the ones I tested: I have a ton of available Linux titles on Steam through the Humble Bundle, so I decided to test downloading several titles. At first, the game is very simple, and you’ll be flying through the puzzles. Limbo is strange, tricky, grey, and much more, in addition to being superb and exciting.

Limbo is a fantastic and fascinating puzzler. Just to dump my test results (I wrote these up for the Double Fine forums): Limbo is a puzzle-platform video game developed by independent studio Playdead. I think it's heavily associated with games in the Humble Indie Bundle, but this is also almost all of the games for Linux I have.
